CNY Playdate

We had a CNY playdate at one of our mommy's place today. Great to have a playdate for our kiddos to meet up and get together for few hours during CNY. As for mommies, isn't that great we get to meet up too? There are so much things to update each other, we loved to chat, we are open to all sorts of topic to discuss. We exchanged our thoughts and experience on how to handle with our kid's behaviour, growth milestones & etc.

A bit difficult to gather all our kiddos to take a group photo, they moved almost everywhere as the function room quite spacious. Therefore, I have to take them individually - Eager, my gal, Kean and Issac.

'Ang Bao' exchange time! We, mommies feel so excited and are having fun distributing out the red packets instead of our kiddos, they are more interested with all the toys rather than receiving red packets.

Reached home at about 3pm, after changing, take nap, she slept for almost 2 1/2 hours, think she is really tired.

CNY Gathering

We have celebrated our 3rd CNY together, and I am so honour that our CNY gathering hosted twice at my place - last year and this year.

We have YuSheng bought from Marriott as appetizer, Hot Pot as our main dish and home baked cheese cake for dessert.

On the spot, we can't remember meaning of the YuSheng ingredient, so we just say various 'auspicious wishes' out loud while tossing the shredded ingredients into the air.

After doing some google, here's the auspicious words to say when putting the YuSheng: -

Raw fish - 年年有余

The pomelo/lime - 大吉大利

Pepper - 招财进宝

Oil - 一本万利,财源广进

Shredded Carrots - 鸿运当头

Shredded green radish - 青春常驻

Shredded white radish - 风生水起,步步高升

Deep-fried flour crisps in the shape of golden pillows - 满地黄金

Snap! Snap! Snap! No idea how many times I have clicked. I just want to capture the best shot for them. I enjoyed capturing every moment of all the little ones, as for the most challenging is to have all the kiddos do the posting in front of my camera. Mission impossible!

I have a great day, with great food served for the day, but I can't sleep with a stomach full of festive food, ended stay wide awake blogging.

Saturday night received a text, TTKfamily are invited over for CNY reunion dinner at my cousin's house. My plan for Sunday have to change, so Hot Pot for lunch and dinner at my cousin place.

Wow! Really had a heavy meals for the day.

My gal brought back a CNY gift bag last week Friday from her Preschool - two mandarin oranges and a bag of red packets.

Another gifts received from my neighbour yesterday, some CNY deco for me, the deco just came in time as I planned to buy some. Lanterns and toy for both kids, they loved it so much.

Auspicious Plants For Lunar New Year 2012

Beside decorated with Lunar New Year cutting paper or ornaments, this year is my first year to decorated with some Auspicious plants. Some people called it as Lucky Fortune plants too.

Here's the plant I have for this year: -

Pussy Willows (银柳, Yin2 Liu3)

In Mandarin sounds like 'Money' (银両, Yin2 Liang3)

I bought it from IKEA few weeks ago. I just found out from my friend it is a good sign where Pussy Willows sprout new shoots and leaves, it symbolise the arrival of prosperity and growth in prosperity.

Lucky Bamboo (Dracaena Sanderiana)

I bought it from IKEA too few weeks ago. This plant is to bring prosperity, fortune and happiness. I decorated the plant with some ribbons and lucky ornaments.

Money Plant Jin Qian Shu (金钱树, Jin1 Qing2 Shu4)

Also known as Gold coin Plant or Zamioculcas Zamiifolia (ZZ Plant) or Fortune Plant. My plants grow, is that mean begin to attract wealth luck to my family? :)

It happen 7 months ago, I pluck the leaves at my MIL place and planted to my pot. Now, one of my pot having a stem with 2 leaves and the another pot, a stem pop out from the soil, yet to see any leaves.

Crassula Ovata or Jade Plant

I planted few leaves in my pot 7 months ago, I get the leaves from my MIL place too, the leaves doesn't grow into a plant. I will try to plant it again.

I am in class Jemima Puddle Duck this year.

My English Teacher is Ms Aini and Chinese Teacher is Zhong Lao Shi.

Oh, in case you don't know about 'Jemima Puddle Duck', actually this name taken from a children's book - written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter.

Today I dressed in yellow because my class colour is yellow.

I am excited! I am so looking forward to meet my new teachers and friends.

I am at the void deck together with my parents this morning, waiting for my school bus.

Things that happen on my first day: -

- School bus late for 15minutes to fetch me to school

- I cried when I saw my mommy

- Mommy visited me when I am at the outdoor play area

- Mommy is with me when I have my breakfast (bread with Jam)

- School bus late again. I reached home at 6:15pm instead of 5:15pm.

Communication book, welcome notes and a gift received from her preschool. I like this year welcome gift, is a body wrap towel bathrobe with top elastic-band and velcro closure. Is so cute!

School Holiday Week

Yes, is school holiday week.

No school bus service and hubby is away for business trip, therefore this week I am extremely busy.

Although they are in a same school, I have to send both of my kids to two different branch till end of this month. Finger cross! Hope everything is fine and manageable.

Here they are, photo taken while they are on their way to school. Good memories and moments been captured.

I am glad they get along well and love company each other. Their love and care for each other always reminded me, helped me to understand that loves and cares should not stop.

Thanks to both of my kids. Thank you for entering my life, making it wonderful and the best of my life!

I am celebrating Christmas and farewell party with my classmate today. The dress code for the party is our Primary School Uniform.

So coincidence, I found out one of my classmate and I having same school badge, we are going to a same primary school next year.

This was my last celebration and group photo taking in my preschool. We are moving to P1 soon, and I will miss all my dear friends.

A Day At Singapore Science Center

Last minutes plan for this holiday, Hari Raya Haji, brought my kids to Singapore Science Center. They are so excited when they arrived, especially my boy when he saw the Waterworks.

We only managed to visit: iSpace, Sound Exhibition, Discovery Zone, Living with Viruses, The Mind's Eye, Mathematics Everywhere & Everyday, Ecolab, and Waterworks.

My girl managed to explore around at Discovery Zone before doze off. Here she is, too exhausted, just doze off after her milk.

Saw this Dinosaurs-Live exhibition, started from 21Oct2011 and end on 26Feb2011.

Couldn't managed to include this in our visit, we will bring them here again, Singapore Science Center, for only this exhibition.

Chocolate Chip Muffins

I have not spent much time in baking recently, busy in preparing my boy for P1. Thought of baking muffin weeks ago, till this morning then I gathered all my ingredients and started my baking.

Ingredients
150g Unsalted Butter
150g Sugar
175g self-raising flour (Sifted)
3 eggs
1 tsp Vanilla essence
60g Mini chocolate chips

Method
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
2. Beat the butter with the sugar until white and fluffy.
3. Add in eggs one at a time. Then add is vanilla essence and mix well.
4. Fold in sifted flour into the butter mixture and mix well. Lastly add the mini Chocolate chips and mix through.
5. Fill papercups with batter to two-third full.
6. Bake at 180°C for about 20 mins or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean with few loose crumbs attached.
7. Allow to cool for few minutes and then transfer to a wire rack.

Makes about 12 muffins.

Delicious chocolate chip muffins either serve warm from the oven or at room temperature

Bedtime Story

My kids refused to go to bed, wanting for daddy to tell them story. I have no choice, to agreed with them.

I have no idea what am I doing, allowing my kids to stay so late. This will not happen anymore, have to be more firm and make sure they are in bed before 8:30pm.

Bedtime story - 2 books from mommy and 1 book from daddy.

Look at them, cute little monsters! They love bedtime story so much.

They are rather tire after long waiting for daddy to return and to have bedtime story, they doze off just within a minutes, that's pretty fast! That's also maybe is late, has past 10:30pm.

Children's Day

How would you celebrate with your kids on Children's day? Or would you celebrate with your kids?

When I was a kid, my parents don't really celebrate with me, they are busy. Most of the time I celebrated in school with my classmate and teachers. Only things that my mum will prepared every year is a pot of curry chicken.

During children's day, there is a list of program planned by the school, first we will gather in a hall. Started with National song, followed by school song, dances, choirs and so on and so on. Thereafter, we will return back to our class. Can't remember much, things that I can recall are, we will decorate our class with some colour papers, balloons, and the tables will re-arranged for placing food.

This year, I planned to have some quality time with my kids, instead of bringing them out, we stayed at home. Things/activities that we spent together - read books, watched TV, played toys, and cookies decorating.

I baked a batch of cookies a day before, used bumble bee cutter to cut out the shape. Prepared 2 sets of piping filled with colour icing for both.

My boy loved decorating cookies, amount of cookies given to him still not enough, requested more to decorate. I really enjoyed watching him decorating his cookies, he looks so serious! Oh, not to forget, he enjoys tasting the icing too. I think most kids did that, can't resist to taste the icing - SWEET!

My gal loved exploring the icing rather than decorating her cookies. She tasted the icing, feels the texture with her both hands and busy squeezing out the icing. With curiosity, she squeezed and watched the icing flowing out from the piping bags.

I have a great and precious moment. Hope they enjoyed!

Inspiration from my gal yesterday evening when I have no idea what to prepare for breakfast.

I have no idea when did this Disney cartoon character - Mickey Mouse become one of her favorites character. Luckily I have this character mould.

Using the ready made pancake mix that I bought from NTUC. Is quite easy, there is a step by step instruction given on the box.

Mixed in the ingredient with water, stir well then scoop out the batter and cook using frying pan.

Mickey Mouse hot cake for breakfast!

Traditional Lotus Paste Mooncake

When comes to mooncake selection, traditional baked mooncake is always out from my list, since young only loved the snow skin type, especially pandan flavour. Hmm.... Yummilicious!

After the mooncake workshop that I have attended last week, really gives me inspiration to give it a try. Next day, went to Phoon Huat, bought all the ingredients.

I am quite free today, gather all my ingredients and started on the mooncake skin portion first then follow by the lotus paste. There are only 2 type of lotus paste that I like most - white lotus paste and pandan lotus paste. Other than that, the others are too sweet for me.

Overall experience, not too bad, at least I am able to mould out with beautiful print on each of every mooncake.

Mooncake Magic Workshop

Rose, Pam and I signed up for the making mooncakes. This is not my 1st time learning on how to make mooncake. 10 years back I attended mooncake workshop together with my hubby, from then till now have not start to baked or make any of them.

Class size was supposed to be 8, due to last minutes time changed, 4 dropped out. We have so much fun, laughter and I really enjoyed, especially with a group of mommies that you know off.

Nowadays, children are so different to those days. We will choose or pick what we like, maybe that's only me. When I were young, I would like to be a piano teacher or related to art craft work, unfortunately my parents disagreed with my decision.

A: W, you have to choose a job that you like, not looking into what earns a lot and you don't like it at all.
W: Hmm... Then I want to build my building.

He pause, look at me for a while and says, I want to order and instruct people to build.
Faint again! Wah! So ambitious thinking.

A: Singapore no more land for you to build, so when you grow up, you have to travel to other country to build your own designed building.
W: Why?
A: Singapore so small and the land is limited, only way is to travel out from Singapore to have your designed building build.
W: Hmmm... ... Let me think about it.

Happy hour on Friday after work at Overtime, Holland Village!

This is not only our usual drinking, is a farewell for me, I am leaving the company by end of this month. I will miss them very much, not only the days we spent together - at work, go out for lunches, and attend company events.

Wee! So much fun and laughter! The buffet very delicious, I enjoyed most of the dishes been served. Yummy!

Oh gosh! I have not actively blog for so long. My life has been so busy and occupied with 2 kids, family and work. Sometimes feels like giving up everything, especially at work, makes me extremely tired and exhausted.

Everything seems different when I reached to my kids, their smiles, their laughter, their hugs and their kisses warm my heart. If not because of my family, I may not able to hang on till now, worthwhile to scarified. Love them so much!

Day Out At Clarke Quay

Having lunch with family at The Central this afternoon. After our lunch, we stroll along Clarke Quay river.

I like the vibrant colour painted on every building. Makes the place so lively and happy.

The night scene looks beautiful when the lights are on, love to hang out with hubby during those days. You can dine-in or chill out or have drinks with your friends, there are more restaurants and nightclubs across the river.

First Day Of Preschool

My girl is in preschool now. This is her 1st day going to her preschool and her 1st time experienced taking school bus to school.

You are so looking forward to experienced everything.

You waved your hand to your gor gor to say bye, then up to the school bus to be sited. I am with you throughout the whole journey, from home to your preschool, from the check-in point to take your temperature to the play area, from waiting area to your class, then back home again.

You are brave and independent girl, without a single tears burst out from you when you are in a new environment. You feed yourself with a little assist. You played well with your same peers. I am so proud of you, you did a great job!

This morning, as usual, getting things ready and my boy sitted at the entrance door wearing his shoes. Hugs and kisses from him before stepping out from the house.

Just before leaving the house.

"Mommy, Ms Susan says, I am not invited for he K2 concert on 11Dec2010, because I am not going to continue K2 with MindChamps next year."

Just wonder why he is not invited to the up coming concert of K2. Just because he is not continuing?

"Why? Only you?"

"Yes."

"All my friends get to go 17th floor, watch K2 practise but not me."

When I hear his comment, it really break my heart! Why must the teacher treat him so exceptional?

"If your friends go 17th floor, where did you go?"

"They sent me to another class."

Break my heart again after hearing this. Can't they just let him join the crowd? Just let him be part of the group by not letting him feel he is alone!

"Is alright." Can you imagine when I hug him back, tears flow out from my heart.

MindChamp Teacher Is So Annoying

This morning I feel so annoying with the way how the teacher in MindChamps handle thing again! She really upset me again and again! I have no idea what's wrong with the teacher, until that extend to put damages to my son!

Did I offended her? Or she just simply dislike/hate my boy so much. He is just only a kid, how can you be so cruel to a 5 years old boy?

Thanks GOD that I have made a right choice with no hesitation to withdraw him out from MindChamps by end of this year, unfortunately my boy still need to go to MindChamps for another 4 weeks!

I am still awake at this hour, clearing out some of my personal things that I can't settle during the day when I am working.

Finished and completed the withdrawal form. Oh, by the way, if you haven't get any update from me during lunch meet up, I have decided discontinue my boy with MindChamps, he will be there till end of this year. Personally, I feel extremely disappointed with the teachers and management, sorry to say that, the way they handle things/issues, really sucks! Now then I understand and strongly agreed to have a good childcare, require good teachers with passion in their career and love children.

I believe there are more education providers nowadays whom do not have the passion and not at all of any professional ethics. How pathetic! It's about passing on knowledge and nurturing these young minds to be future leaders and they just made it so commercialize. (Just my two cents worth of view)

Next, was clearing my emails, can't read through every single emails, managed to read randomly. Thereafter, move to trash bin. Sent out email to my Financial planner to terminate my premium, Pru Smart Lady. I find a bit expensive to manage compare to another plan with having same amount of saving and coverage, pay less. Moreover, I bought this plan not more than 2 years, so not too late to change my decision.

And not to forget, very important, is to have some 'ME' time. Logging to my Facebook to get update and games! Yohoo!

Chaotic Life

Life has become so chaotic thereafter I decided to return back to work life and signed the agreement letter with the company. Within same day, I received a call from my aunt that my dad had a stroke. So my mum has to be there to look after him. He is coping well, recovering.

While my mum's absent, MIL is here to take over 1/3 of her position, only looking after my girl's daily needs, whereas the other 2/3 will have to depend on me.

Days without my mum around, no more home cooked food, really miss my mum's cooked food so much. MIL can't cope with the cooking, so have to order tingkat delivery (catering) for weekdays and eat out for weekends.

Days without my mum around, I tend to be extremely busy till I hardly have a time to stop for a deep breath. Don't need to mention about checking my personal emails and Facebook. I can feel the stress and even during the days, speed of my heart beat increasing.

Days with MIL, here comes the chaotic life. I have to rush to my boy's childcare to pick him up, I can't instruct her to help me out with some other stuff, she starts to nag, a bored look appears on her face and so on and so on. I do appreciate her help, during this period of time, while I am away, she did take good care of my girl. With her help, I don't need to consider a nanny or sending her to childcare. Only thing that I wish from my MIL is, try to smile often and have a happy face, I notice my girl frown a lot recently, this expression definitely is from her.

I feel so fortunate to have my mum around, she has been helping me out a lot, not only now I notice, this always has been in my mind, only now then I blog it. I am looking forward for my mum returns.

Our weekends basically occupied with unpacking (looks more like never ending things to me), house chores, family outing, and search for furniture that can fits in my new house. Hope everything resume back as per normal, so I can read books to my kids, spend my time with family and gather around for chit chat. Is so wonderful!

I have been a SAHM for almost 2 years 2months, drawing a full stop to end my SAHM life soon. Mother of two and still continue as a personal assistant to my husband, but added an extra responsible as an Application Support to a local company.

I am glad and enjoyed spending every single minute with my adorable kids when I am a SAHM. Although there were no extra budgets set aside for luxury life, that were the most precious moment that hubby given to me, I feel so fortunate to have a loving and caring hubby. Thanks hubby agreed to my decision and has been so supportive.

Selection Information

Usage: Very good for eating fresh, cooking & salads. They're also the primary ingredient for a Granny Smith Apple pie.

Selection: A Good-quality Granny Smith apple will be firm with smooth and clean skin. Granny Smith apples are a deep green with an occasional pink blush of the cheeks. Test the firmness of the apple by holding it in the palm of your hand. (Do not push with your thumb). It should feel solid and heavy, not soft and light. These apples may be less attractive, but the flesh is still good to eat after cutting.

Avoid: Avoid product with soft or dark spots. Also if the apple skin wrinkles when you rub your thumb across it, the apple has probably been in cold storage too long or has not been kept cool. Grannies occasionally show "russeting," a brownish network at the stem end.

Ha! I didn't expect him reply me using 'Out of my question'. In return, I gave him a stun look!

Traditional Birthday Food

I don't get to eat mee suah on my birthday where my parents don't practice it. Since my MIL cooked mee suah for my hubby on his birthday, so I just follow, practice them and pick up this traditional birthday food and cook for my kids.

Mee suah usually served with eggs, oysters, pig's large intestine, mushroom, beef, shallots or spring onion. Due to health cautions, my gal is too early to consume adult's food and some other reason, I have modified most of the steps to suits for my gal, drop some ingredients and add-on other ingredients.

A bowl of mee suah that I have prepared for my gal as breakfast on her birthday.

Here is my preparation:

Prepared a pot of chicken stock or fish stock. I used chicken backs, wings and legs, bring them to boil, takes about 4 hours.
Cook mee suah in a wok of boiling water, stir well, mee suah usually cooks fairly quickly. Remove the cooked mee suah from heat, drain and put under a running tap for few minutes to wash away the starch and to prevent further cooking. Set in a serving bowl.
Once your stock is ready, add in your ingredients like vegetables, mushroom and etc till all cook. Pour everything over mee suah.
Lastly, add in hard boil egg before serve.

As of today, most of my purchased items are here with me. I am so excited now, can't wait till her day comes!

After registered my girl for 'Healthy Breastfed Baby Contest', I am still at KKH, looking for helium services, I need to consolidate plus to compare their prices.

I saw babies, baby suppose to be so adorable but babies at KKH, I really can't bear to see them with lots of needles all over their body. I feel so heart pain, but at the same time I really feel so bless that my kids are healthy and active! I know every human need to go through all this stage, even animals but with such a young age, really make me sad. No matter how, moms out there, you have to hang on and be strong, your baby needs you!

I have no idea but trace back to my archive blog, notice that in year 2009, they had change to 'Healthy Breastfed Baby Contest'. Requirement also change, only a copy of my girl's birth cert with the entry form for submission whereas during my boy's time, they needed a copy of his recent 4R photo too.

This doesn't matter anymore as I have submitted my entry form and registered my girl for this contest. As now I am just waiting for them to notify me via post with the actual date and time to report for the preliminary.

Lunch time - Pizza for my boy. He ordered at the counter all by himself, and he was so proud of himself and enjoyed eating them.

My gal struggle a bit when having her lunch, after a while she's able to settle down and finished. Good job!

Strawberry Shortcake VS Ladybug

I did some information gathering on Ladybug instead of Strawberry Shortcake theme. Why choose Ladybug? My girl already had the ladybug outfit, I don't need to get another set of clothes for her, she can wear it on that day, and moreover the outfit matches the theme too!

Proposed Ladybug theme to hubby once I have most of the information on hand, this included cake design, venue, and party supplier. Hubby still prefers Strawberry Shortcake, so I have to stick with the initial plan!

Task Assigned

A task has been assigned to me yesterday - having Strawberry shortcake theme party and cake will order from Pine Garden's Cake. I have not try their cake and have no idea how good will it be, only know that lots of good comments out there, but one thing for sure, I will definitely get the chance to try it out on my girl's birthday.

This is my first time doing it, to coordinate and organise a birthday event, basically managing everything! Really stress me out!

I still need to gather more information yet no idea where to start from! Venue? Date? Time? Only family or include friends? Most important part - Where is my budget?

Should Thomas train given to boy and Strawberry shortcake for girl? I am trying very hard and struggling to be neutral, but end up we still choosing pink colour for my girl and blue colour for my boy! We really are a stereotype parents!

Having Fever

My gal is having fever again.

Just after her dinner, while carrying her I feel her body very warm. Now I know what bothers her and no wonder during meal time she shows no interest on her food. Sigh! She just recovered last week, fever plus flu, then now having fever again!

Wanted to bring her to nearby neighbourhood clinic but most of the clinic closed at 5pm , so left with no choice, have to bring her to other clinic where located at TPY central.

After taken her medicine, her temperature yet to go down, still stuck at 38.8°c. The fastest and effective way to lower down her fever is to put on a cool pad.

Here she is, happily exploring around the house and refuse to go to bed!

Ethen Full Month Celebration

Here is the star, baby Ethen celebrated his 1 month old today.

I am very excited as I get to see him again, so adorable. 1st time visited him was at TMC, after my best friend delivered.

Seeing him, really miss those days where my baby only demands for feed and sleep, I get to have more 'me' time and rest.

Nice to see each other and get updates! Ni, Wo, Ta (你, 我, 她) meet up again but another Ta (她) absent!

Oh! This has been keeping in my heart for a very long time. I am grateful to my best friend and her mum, dad & aunt for their help. I really appreciate their kindness. She offered her help to me at that moment (that was the time I am really lost) to take care of my son when he was 18 months where my mum was away for medication, hubby went for business trip and my leave had not been approved.

Time really flies, year2009 going to end soon and hereby welcome year2010!

A quick wrap-up about what I have done for the year! God heard my prayer, granted me an adorable baby girl. With my wish granted, I have to start all over again, go thru sleepless night for feeding, changing diapers and rock/pet her to sleep. I have no doubts and regrets for all the sacrifices. "wei da ma ma" provided tender love and care, in return received tons of happiness and joys.

I am a mother of two, I am still learning on how to balance my life with my hubby and 2 kiddos. Time just really not enough to get things done. How I wish I can read more for my kids and spend some quality time with hubby only. So what do you wish if you have more time for?

I would like to give a big thanks to my hubby for being so supportive, understanding and tolerance towards me when I lost my temper from time to time. I really appreciate this, hubby takeover some housework in order to let me rest more. We share/gripe/drive around like crazy and schedule together. We are tired but happy and in years, the kiddos are off.

I have been a SAHM (Stay At Home Mum) for whole year, and is time for me to help to pay some bills.

Lets pray and hope for a great and better year!

2009 Post-Christmas Celebration

Hohohoho... ... We celebrated pre-Christmas, Christmas and post-Christmas this year! TTKfamily missed out some Christmas tree and the Christmas carol lights for photo session on our Christmas Eve, so hubby come out with this idea - to have a post-Christmas celebration.

We were at Orchard Central this afternoon, having our lunch at Ootoya Japanese Restaurant. We were lucky, reached there early and managed to get a table.

2009 Christmas Eve

TTK family decided to spend our Christmas Eve at Orchard road, having our dinner at Marché, 313@Somerset. Marché is one of our hang out place to go for lunch or dinner, we just simply love the environment and the delicious food, especially prepared on the dot when you place your order with them.

This was the most challenging part where I have to travel down with 2 kiddos to meet hubby at Orchard MRT station, luckily everything seems running smoothly. Phew!!!

First thing after putting down all our belongings and before order our food, is to look for a high chair, next put her in, lastly will need to settle her meal!

I love the high chair that Marché has provided, just looks so cool!!! By chance saw it at Mothercare outlet @ The Centrepoint, they are selling at $500+, that's really very expensive to invest one at home.

Not having Marché's signature dish, the Rösti, where hubby wanted to try out other dishes. They are having mushroom soup and steak for this visit.

Crêpe is my usual order, my favourite dish and a must have it while we dine at Marché.

Hubby took a photo of me with the lovely background while waiting for our desert - waffles with ice-cream.

This was the last photo for the day as the camera battery gone flat. My mood on Christmas Eve gone when come to know the battery goes flat after few shots. Sigh! What a waste with no Christmas tree and no beautiful carol lights taken at Orchard! So sad and disappointed!

Voices Experimenting

This few days, my girl starts experimenting with using her tongue, and vocal chords to make all sorts of funny noises. Repeating them over and over because she likes the way they sound and how her mouth feels when she says them. She will even wake up in the middle of night to practice them. Although our sleep being disturb, but we still feel happy and enjoy seeing her making those noises! She is just so cute.

American Baked Cheesecake

Sometimes really running out of idea on what to buy for my mum, I have been searching and looking around, yet to decide. Just yesterday, make up my mind and decided, since she loves cheesecake so much, I should bake a cheesecake for her.

Went to buy all ingredients and get all baking stuff ready to start!

Ingredients
Base:
160g Digestive biscuit (finely crushed)
80g Unsalted butter (melted)

Filling:
(1)
625g Cream cheese
170g Sugar
(2)
40g Plain flour
(3)
4 Egg yolk
2 1/2 Egg white
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 lemon zest
(4)
200g whipping cream
(5)
1 1/2 Egg white
20g Sugar

Method
Base:

Mix all the ingredients until well-blended.
Press it into a 10-inch springform pan and refrigerate for 15 minutes or until firm.

Filling:

Wrap the outside of the springform base with aluminium foil to prevent water doesn't seep in.
Cream (1) until light. Add in (2) mix until well-blended.
Add in (3), cream until smooth and light.
Add in (4), mix until well-combined.
Whisk (5) to a soft peak. Add it into cheese mixture and mix until well incorporated.
Pour cheese mixture over the prepared biscuit base.
Base in water bath at 160c for 75 mins or until golden brown
Allow to cool, keep refrigerated overnight.

Note
Cutting cheesecake:
Use hot water/over a fire to heat up your knife. Wipe it clean before cutting the cheesecake. Wipe the knife clean after every cut and repeat until the whole cake is cut.

2009 Pre-Christmas Celebration

I feel that with kids around, we are not able to meet as per scheduled, either reach too early or late, but most probably are late. We had a very tight schedule today, rushing down to Robinson, Centrepoint, to have my blouse change. I bought that blouse few days ago during member sales, not worth of money with that material used for the blouse.

Another delay added-on to our schedule, a last minutes purchase of Christmas gift, as the one that we prepared left at home, plus there were crowd everywhere, toys department and even at the casher!

Thought we were late for our baby's pre-Christmas celebration, as everyone has arrived, but our catering food yet to set up. What a big mistake that the caterer has made, food delivered not as per ordered, and the price are cheaper that what we had paid for, so can't accept it.

Here's our food delivered after 1 hour!

Thirsty! Thirsty! Thirsty! Very nice and good area to place our drinks, this is the corner where everyone looking for, especially the weather is hot.

Ops! Where's the place we had our Pre-Christmas celebration? ok, we have it at a function room, Pravina's place.

A small complaint as there are too many windows, sun shines in and makes the environment hot and stuffy! I think everyone do agree with me. Beside that, overall of the function room and environment is good.

This was a good time to enjoy my lunch where my little girl having her afternoon nap in her daddy's arm.

At least I have a 45minutes break, away from carrying her. After that, everything back to normal and here she is, with mommy again.

Thanks to my little man for so kind to help, to search out and deliver gift to all mommies, but at a same time he was busy with his supper yoyo too, that was bought and given to him this morning.

Green Light For Toys

Daddy starts complaining that I don't have my own toys. Most of my toys are hand-me-down from my brother, so mommy got a green light (mean permission) from daddy to get me some toys!

Daddy! Actually I don't really bother about this matter, either new or hand-me down toys. No matter how many toys I have, I will still get bored easily.

This afternoon, mommy and I were at Robinson, Centre Point. We hang around for more than 2 hours at toys department. I behave well, no tantrum or throwing a big fuss in the public, as I am occupied with some other toys.

Yeah! Mommy bought a girl and a boy for me. The girl will accompany me whenever I go with the stroller.

As for the boy, will be place in my cot whenever I sleep.

I am too exhausted for now, being occupied with lotsa toys during our shopping time. Just fall asleep when we step out from the building, so mommy went for a coffee break at Coffee Bean!

2009 Robinson Year End Sales

Yesterday, hubby meet me at Somerset MRT station after work, brought my gal along.

We had a fast and quick dinner at NYNY (New York New York). My favourite dishes are their cheessy fries and buffalo wings, this round I only ordered cheesy fries as we need to rush for the Robinson closed up sales.

Managed to grab some good stuff within 3 hours shopping together with my gal, got some Christmas gift for both of my kids and adults clothes too. Phew!

Thanks to all mommies (total 7 couples + 7 babies + 2 toddlers) to make this occasion successful.

It was fun to have our babe dress in Christmas outfit! TTK family really enjoyed!

Our food corner - we have roasted turkey, honey glazed ham, fruit cake, gingerbread man. Other than that not shown in the photo are Éclairs (Chocolate, Strawberry, Green Tea flavour), drinks (alcohol & non alcohol), sausages, snacks and nuts. Lovely set up by few mommies - Marie, Kris, Jac and Pei.

Rose collected turkey & ham from Shaw building, Orchard, and FengPing bought cutlery (disposable). Anyone or anything again that I have missed out?

Really fell bad as I can't help up at that moment. Enya fall asleep and need me to carry throughout her napping session. I tried but fail to put her down on a bumper playmat, as she keep waking up.

This round, we, all mommies and their babe, missed out the group photo session again. Only managed to captured some family photos.

Lower Down By 2 Levels

My gal was not place in baby cot for almost a month when I saw her pulled herself up in a standing position. At that time, hubby was tied up with works and flying off for business trip, so end up every night I have to tuck her in my bed.

Hubby is back from his business trip now and he is free from everything. He helps to adjust the baby cot's height, by lower down 2 levels. Baby cot being empty for almost a month and now I can put her back to her cot! Yippee!

Hang Out At Ben & Jerry's

Total of 4 mommies today at Central Thai, Orchard Central having lunch . Good session to catch up with each other! I am late but still managed to meet up with another mom as she need to rush back to work.

Hmm... ... Need to comment on their food. As defaulted, in any Thai restaurant, I will order Phat Thai, my favourite dish. No idea why, maybe the waitress recomended me their fried beef noodles, so I just trusted him and ordered. After having it, total ruins my day, not appertising, the fried beef noodles just so so. Moreover the place is not that comfort, if I were given a choice, I will not visit them again.

Last minutes decision, decided to have dessert at Ben & Jerry, Orchard Central. Most important is to continue our chit chat session after our lunch.

Oh! Before proceed to other stuff, here's our little bubs, their very first time trying out to sit in a highchair. We are so proud of them! Yeah!

First Bottle-feed

Now that I have to say, I am so proud of my baby, she knows how to drink from a bottle and finished up 3oz breastmilk within 5 minutes! Hurray! From tomorrow onwards, I need to start to express and store for feeding.

Thinking back on those days when I had supply issue, produce not enough breastmilk for her, on 2nd day stay in hospital I have to bottle feed her with formula milk. Thereafter, she was fully latched on.

Yes, the convenience of breast feeding till I didn't think about to bottle feed her. I tried to give her bottle when she was about 3 months old but end up I am the one who surrender first! She tend to forget how to suck, so in return, whenever I go, I have to bring along her with me, not complaining, just because I notice that some places I can't really bring her along, so each time hubby needs to apply leave to accompany me.

Exercise And Breastfeeding

Most mommies often ask this question- Can I breastfeed my baby after exercise? Some say 'Yes', and some say 'No'. So do I! Which is which? I am concern about this too! To play safe, I have not, should have say I dare not exercise when I am breastfeeding my baby.

After I read this article from Parenting and Child Health, about 'Exercise and breastfeeding', really clear all of my concern and doubt! No worries anymore and I will plan and start my exercise very soon!

Exercise and breastfeeding
Regular, moderate exercise is good for your health and it helps you to feel good.
* Most women can exercise regularly without any effects on breastfeeding.
* An occasional baby may be fussy at the breast if fed straight after the mother has exercised. This may be due to lactic acid in the milk, which does no harm and will disappear in an hour or two.
* Rarely, a mother may find she needs to cut down on exercise to prevent her milk supply from dropping off.
* Make sure to have plenty of drinks when you are breastfeeding and exercising.
* Healthy eating is important too. Don't go on a strict diet to lose weight while you are breastfeeding.

Feeding Schedule - From 6 to 7 Months Old

By now, Enya has become adept at eating baby rice cereal, and is time to expand her diet by introducing something different. Shall I start with fruit before vegetables or vegetables before fruit? Mmm... ... To me that really don't make a difference between the two!

Since I started my boy with vegetables before fruit, so my girl will adopts same method as her brother, vegetables before fruit. First food for Wayne was carrot and pumpkin for Enya!

I refer back to my boy's feeding schedule that I have done in year 2005, I don't really need to start from scratch on what shall I feed her with too!

My feeding schedule: -

Still single ingredients at this stage. I will give her 1 feed per day, increase from 1 Tbsp to 2 Tbsp of baby rice cereal.
Introduce new food in late morning after milk, I will still stick with 3 days rules.

I Bought It

Today managed to bought Halloween costume for my kids! My little girl got a Silly Spider and my boy got a vampire costume. I bought them all from Toys Я Us.

Really makes me hunt for the costumes just because hubby said "Why sharing? Your gal always got 2nd hand stuff, hand-me-down clothes, poor thing!"! This really a difficult task given to me, but I have completed it!

Called up few shops, but none of them having the Halloween related costume, what they have are like bumble bee, Hello Kitty, Thomas Train & etc, wah so sweet and cute but not what we are aiming for. We are targeting on pumpkin, ghost, Dracula, skeleton, most challenging were buying for an infant and have to be cute too!

I bought another outfit for Enya. I think is very cheap, selling at $7.80 only for this ladybug outfit, without hesitate, I just grab. With the 2 little wings make the outfit look so cute!

Mums Meet Up For Lunch

This week mums hang out at Paragon, Orchard, for lunch. Beside regular mums, we have some new mums joining us for lunch too! Nice to meet up with them! Nothing special or surprise for this occasion, only a session for mums to meet up for chatting and exchange ideas.

Here's the mummy that well equip with lotsa information and good deals! Most of us call her kidzskidz. Actually her name, 'Phenelope', isn't that difficult to pronounce, maybe too long for a name to be call. Here we are with our baby Sebastian and Enya.

We have occupied the restaurant's table for quite sometimes, leaving behind sweet wrappers and our unfinished drinks when we decided to go.

Total 9 mums having lunch together this week, 1 left as need to rush back for work. Gather all mums for a group photo. Here we are, gorgeous mums!

This Is What Happens When I Leave The Room

This is what happens when I leave the room!

OMG! I really got a shock and my heart nearly drops when I entered to my room and saw her standing. She pulled herself up in a standing position, tried to reach out things from the other side when I am on the phone! Phew! Luckily she is at the other corner and didn't fall out from the baby cot!

Quickly use my mobile phone's camera to capture the moment, my camera is too far to grab and moreover I can't just leave her again like that, just to take my camera!

Feeding Schedule - From 5 1/2 Months Old

I planned to start with rice cereal first when my baby reaches five and a half months old. My boy started rice cereal on 07Jan06, using only Heinz product. As for my gal, she started on 17Oct09, because Heinz rice cereal was off from the shelves, can't even find a single box from any stores. Left with no choice, I have to pick Nestle rice cereal.

One feed per day, I started with 1 tsp for the first day, 2 tsp on 2nd day, subsequently 3 tsp, 4 tsp, gradually increased till 1Tbsp.

Let's Begin to Eat

As I have mention in my previous post, last week Saturday wanted to start solid for Enya but keep on postponing till today. Only yesterday received the sachet from Nestle.

Why not trying other brand? I have tried only brand that's Heinz, so no confident on others before trying out their product. Only brand comes in my mind were Nestle.

Today not an auspicious day to start with, just because hubby is around during weekend, so I want him to get involve.

Rice cereal is ready to serve!

Having enjoyed the rice cereal, Enya gives her (open mouth) stamp of approval.

Here some updates commented about Heinz out of shelves from SMH posting:-
Heinz's Story is this.
They were requested to take the cereal off the shelves due to some labeling incompliance.

AVA's Story
AVA received some samples from Heinz and they found that there were some traces of Rosemary extract in the cereal which is not recommended for infant food in Singapore. It is OK for adults. Heinz took them off the shelves on their own accord. AVA thinks that Heinz is going to reformulate for the Singapore market.

So which is which, I have no idea but I will still get the Heinz rice cereal, in blue packaging, from Malaysia!

Hang Out At Orchard

After the jab, we had our breakfast at Delifrance, then went window shopping.

Taka having sales, the sales quite attractive but we can't get anything for both kids, maybe most of my gal's stuff were hand-me-down by her brother. As for my boy, he enjoyed himself exploring around at the toy's department. As for his age now, I feel that his interest more in remote control's stuff. Maybe can consider buy him something that has remote control related for this coming Christmas.

Lunch at Fish&Co, Paragon. Don't need to mention, fish & chips for my lunch!

Ok, nothing special about Enya, only if I have more space at home, I will have this set of Rain Forest Jumperoo for her!

23 Weeks 2 Days Old

She is now 5months old!

Today we went for 5 in 1, 3rd jab, appointment at 8:20am. Surprisingly after the jab she didn't cry but given a surprise expression - 'Who poke me!' look. Till now no fever occurs but body temperature slightly higher.

Update on her growth:
Weighted at 7.87kg
Head Circumference is 43cm
Length not being measure.

Her development as this stage:

Able to sit without support, when too excited or to reach out for her toys will still bump herself.
Able to get around (crawling) by herself, more mobile now.
From a crawling position back to a sitting position.
Able to push her lower body up, knees away from the surface.
When she saw me passing by within her vision, she will gives me a big smile.
Able to transfer objects from hand to hand.

Received Expired Sample

Received a box of sample cereals from Nestle on Tuesday, 06Oct2009.

Here's the sample - Rice, Brown Rice & Oats with Prunes.

So happy where I can start wean her with the Nestle rice cereal this coming Saturday but all my plan have to change as the sample pack that sent to me were expired. Feel so angry with Nestle services where the staff didn't bother to check before sending out their sample product.

Can you imagine what will happen to our baby if consume the expired sample cereal. So horrible! Even I called them up and their lines were busy till off office hours. Leave them my particulars and hopefully they care to call me back.

What's A Good Time To Start?

What's a good time to start solid food? Is your little one ready?
She can sit up with support and are able to control her head & neck movement as mention in the books. While we eat, she watched and her mouth will mimic. So I think she is ready, and I have decided to go ahead with the weaning process early. Not this week, probably next week.

Here are some very clear sign that she has deliver to me recently, she demanded for more feeds than usual, almost every 2 and a half hours during the day. She wakes up at night and demand for additional feeds, so average of total 9 to 10 feeds per day. Mostly during the day I will probably exhausted!

Another sign of her is she watches me eat with great interest, she drools and put her fingers in to her mouth to suck. Sometimes while I carry her, she even tries to take my food by using her hand to grab, or move her body towards to the table.

Lastly, doubling of birth weight. At birth, weighted her at 3.105kg and now she is > 7.38kg.

I have to establish a regular meal schedules for her now and really can't wait till the day comes, to watch how she express when given rice cereal to her.

At AMK Hub

We are at AMK Hub today.

Yes, no schooling, is a off day for my boy, both of us took leave to accompany him. Lunch at Fish & Co, went for a movie and ended our day with art craft at AMK Hub.

He was so excited, this is new for him, happily choose a seahorse from the shelf.
